  • Here is a sneak peek at our bar wrappers (still waiting on the labels). Each wrapper is an image of an artisan textile from the bar's country of origin. From left to right - Peru (Shipibo emroidery), Madagascar (woven wild silk), and Belize (Mayan weaving). So excited!!

  • We aren't able to travel to meet with our cocoa farmers quite yet, but I had the pleasure this morning of visiting with our local organic cherry farmer, Alan, of North Star Organics. I bought some cherries for our Nibblers, and was gifted some organic cherry juice for my family. Organic farmers rock!

  • Our first batch of chocolate went exclusively to our Community Supported Chocolate members, and we just received our first bit of feedback:

    Hi Nichole:

It was nice meeting you and the chocolate is OUTSTANDING. I've tried many brands, with a healthy heart as an excuse, and yours is at the top. Thank you. I am confident you will be very successful.

We can't wait to get the bars out to the rest of you!!

Just Good Chocolate wants to be Northern Michigan’s first small-scale bean to bar craft chocolate maker, using only the finest fair trade and organic ingredients. The equipment to get started plus packaging, labeling and odds and ends runs close to $50,000. Our goal is to get a minimum of 100 members in CSC program this first year to invest in this exciting endeavor. Here are the details:

Official Taste Tester Share: $500  At this level, you get a spot on our official taste testing panel (and a special t-shirt to make it really official)! Instead of waiting for the shares to start, you will get to sample tastes of our chocolate as we work on our recipes. Your feedback will be beneficial as we develop the unique flavor that will define our brand’s first chocolate making endeavor. And then once shares start, you will get the same goodie box as our full-share with a few extras thrown in, as well as 15% off any other orders you make through the year. We will keep in close contact about our chocolate adventures and when we will send your tasting chocolate. Shares will be available for free pick-up at a central location the first Friday of every month, beginning in February 2014 (we need time to order equipment, learn the craft, create the bars, deliver goodness). For non-locals, shipping in continental U.S. additional $6.95 per month. Add to cart or email info@justgoodchocolate.com to talk further or if you prefer to send a check.
